""We must understand that childbirth is fundamentally a spiritual,
as well as physical, achievement. The birth of a child
is the ultimate perfection of human love."
Grantly Dick-Read, Obstetrician and Author.
As a Postnatal Doula I will offer:
In these early days of shifting emotions and interrupted sleep, I am flexible to give you a hand with anything you feel needs doing in the house: keeping the laundry from piling up, washing the dishes, preparing you a hot meal, shopping for some groceries, watering the plants, walking the dog, etc. I can also take care of your newborn or other children, enabling you to maybe take a shower or to even have a snooze!
We talk about your birth experience and we look at where you are emotionally with this new shift.
We also look into infant feeding. I can offer you assistance with breastfeeding if needed, showing you comfortable positions and making sure your baby latches properly in order to avoid possible future complications.
Furthermore, I come to sit with you and give you the space to talk through any possible concerns and/or fears you may have.
All in all, my visits are all about enabling you to have a smooth "landing" at home after giving birth.
Sometimes mums might feel a bit overwhelmed, so my interest is to make sure you get your strength back, build up your confidence and to help you to get enough time and space to get to know your new baby.
